He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters.– Psalms 23:2

One of the ways by which men rest is to lie down. The endless toils and turmoil of life breed weariness of the soul and body. Even in sleep, many are still restless. The rest we get from sleep and things that give us pleasure is temporary. There is a rest that is both eternal, sure and secure; and such is only found in God. Jesus drove this reality further by throwing an open invitation to all who sincerely acknowledge their weariness from the many huddles of sin and life, and desire permanent rest; “Come unto Me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” – Matthew 11:28.

In His leading is His Rest – rest from sin, rest from worries, rest from fear and anxieties; all these are resident in the opening statement of the Psalmist – “The LORD is my Shepherd…” He gives rest by making you to lie down in the best of pastures, where all you see is the beauty of His creative works. May you surrender and find true rest in the Shepherd of Your Soul in Jesus Name.

PRAYER: FATHER, thank You for the rest You provide in Your Son, Jesus. I ask that You’ll save me from everything that makes me restless and give me true rest in You. Save as many who are yet under the bondage and weariness of sin and Satan, and bring them to complete rest in Jesus Name!
